Anna-Lena Roth

As a computer scientist and researcher at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, my work focuses on High Performance Computing (HPC). My academic background combines a Bachelor's degree in Digital Media with a Master's degree in Applied Computer Science, followed by a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on High Performance Computing, completed in July 2026 (certificate pending).

Over the past years, I have worked intensively with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) and near-real-time performance analysis techniques, with a special emphasis on visualizing collective algorithms. My current research focuses in particular on Asynchronous Many-Task (AMT) programming as a high-level alternative to MPI for improving supercomputer utilization through adaptivity.

My work combines systems-oriented research, software development, data analysis, and user-facing tool design. Teaching has been an important application area throughout this path: from automated assessment tools in my Bachelor's and Master's theses to EduMPI Suite, which connects performance analysis with accessible HPC practice. This background has also given me extensive experience in communicating technical concepts to different audiences.
